The Beneficiaries
In 2018, the idea was introduced by Jeff Mills to address the lack of artistic collaborations within and from the city of Detroit/USA. The city had always been an engine of new innovative ideas related to music, art, dance, poetry and all other arts. It was thought of as a way to demonstrate the commonality people possess from various art forms and that by mixing ideas visions and perspectives together are might produce unexpected and often provocative results. The project started when Mills reached out to one of Detroit Techno‘s founder and legendary DJ/Producer Eddie Fowlkes. Though the two are known and connected to Detroit Techno and knew each other for decades, they never worked together so the first few meetings and conversations were marked with finding all the common links that have built both of their careers. During this time, Mills wanted to find a third person for the project, one that was from Detroit, but not a musician. His idea and theory was that by engaging two other creative thinkers would most likely produce something unique as emotions would become linked together to find that common, but higher level. While browsing the web, Mills discovered a post that featured the Detroit-born poet Jessica Care Moore. Struck by her words and the energy she mastered to say them, Mills knew immediately that she would be the perfect artist to approach for this creative venture. After a few diligent phone calls and messages, Mills and Moore met via Skype. As with most artists that grew up in Detroit, they immediately opened up the links in their past, present and future outlook. He presented the case and explained to her how he thought it might work. She liked the idea and joined. THE CRYSTAL CITY IS ALIVE. (A phrase extracted from Moore‘s words), puts the Detroit, America and the World on notice. The alarm has sounded and it is now time to mobilize all creative units to the frontline.
Im Jahr 2018 wurde die Idee von Jeff Mills eingeführt, um den Mangel an künstlerischer Zusammenarbeit innerhalb und außerhalb der Stadt Detroit / USA zu beheben. Die Stadt war schon immer ein Motor für neue innovative Ideen in Bezug auf Musik, Kunst, Tanz, Poesie und alle anderen Künste. Es wurde als ein Weg gedacht, um die Gemeinsamkeiten zu demonstrieren, die Menschen aus verschiedenen Kunstformen besitzen, und dass durch das Mischen von Ideen Visionen und Perspektiven zu unerwarteten und oft provokativen Ergebnissen führen können. Das Projekt begann, als Mills sich an einen der Gründer und legendären DJ / Produzenten von Detroit Techno, Eddie Fowlkes, wandte. Obwohl die beiden bekannt und mit Detroit Techno verbunden sind und sich seit Jahrzehnten kennen, haben sie nie zusammengearbeitet, so dass die ersten Treffen und Gespräche mit dem Finden aller gemeinsamen Verbindungen gekennzeichnet waren, die beide Karrieren aufgebaut haben. Während dieser Zeit wollte Mills eine dritte Person für das Projekt finden, eine aus Detroit, aber keine Musikerin. Beim Surfen im Internet entdeckte Mills einen Beitrag mit der in Detroit geborenen Dichterin Jessica Care Moore. Von ihren Worten und der Energie, die sie beherrschte, um sie zu sagen, beeindruckt, wusste Mills sofort, dass sie die perfekte Künstlerin für dieses kreative Unternehmen sein würde. Nach ein paar fleißigen Telefonaten und Nachrichten trafen sich Mills und Moore über Skype. Wie bei den meisten Künstlern, die in Detroit aufgewachsen sind, haben sie sofort die Verbindungen zu ihrer Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft geöffnet. Er stellte den Fall vor und erklärte ihr, wie er dachte, dass es funktionieren könnte. Sie mochte die Idee und schloss sich an. Die Kristallstadt lebt. (Ein Satz aus Moores Worten) macht Detroit, Amerika und die Welt auf sich aufmerksam. Der Alarm hat ausgelöst und es ist jetzt Zeit, alle kreativen Einheiten an die Front zu bringen.
