Elkin Robinson is a musician and songwriter born in Old Providence Island in the Colombian caribbean. His music is the evolution of the folklore of the region, which highlights traditional elements like mentó and calypso, executed on typical instruments like tinafono (Tub-tub making role of a bass), the horse jaw-bone and maracas; recreated with new airs, rhythms and colors.
In such a way, Robinson arises as the principal ambassador for "Old Providence New Roots ", the new sound of Old Providence Island. This proposal highlights the musical culture, people, language (Creole), and cuisine of Providence Island, with lyrics that convey a positive message. For those who have the pleasure of listening to his songs, Robinson creates an experience that bring this beautiful little paradise closer to the rest of the world. Elkin´s music has emerged to be the new face of the caribbean folk and calypso.
Elkin Robinson has taken his music and creole vibration to the most important venues and festivals in Colombia, Is part of the official selection of WOMEX 2017, and his band has been selected to showcase in the country´s most respected music expos such as Circulart and Boom among others. He has performed internationally in Wasser-musik Festival in Berlin, Jamaica, Canada, Honduras, Guatemala, Paraguay, Argentina and Costa Rica.
Elkin´s second record, produced by Richard Blair was released in june 2017, is fueled with enchanting and powerful lyrics that further captures the essence of the original sound of the caribbean digging into the sailor folk and gospel that shaped the islanders music.

Elkin Robinson ist Sänger und Songwriter der Insel Providencia, der kolumbianischen Karibik. Hier hat sich eine ganz eigene Musik entwickelt, die Einflüsse von Calypso, Mento, Reggae und Zouk erkennen lässt.
Seit seinem gefeierten Debütalbum trägt Elkin Robinson den Sound der kleinen Inseln in die Welt und gilt als Botschafter dieses einzigartigen karibischen Sound: mit E-Gitarre, traditionellen Instrumenten wie dem berüchtigten Pferdekieferknochen oder der Waschbottichtrommel.
Die Bewohner der Insel Providencia sprechen Kreol-Englisch und spielen einen einzigartigen karibischen Sound.
Elkin Robinson hat seine Musik zu den bekanntesten Locations und Festivals in Kolumbien gebracht, er ist Teil der offiziellen Auswahl WOMEX 2017, ebenso bei Circulart und Bomm in Kolumbien. Er spielte international beim Wassermusik Festival in Berlin, ebenso in Jamaica, Kanada, Honduras, Guetemala, Paraguay, Argentinien und Costa Rica.
Elkins zweites Album, produziert von Richard Blair und veröffentlicht im Juni 2017, ist angetrieben von hinreißend charmanten und ausdrucksstarken Texten, welche die Essenz des traditionell karibischen Sounds trägt.
